NEW OPENING: DON’T TELL DAD

25/09/2024

Introducing Don’t Tell Dad – a new neighbourhood bakery and restaurant opening in London’s Queen’s Park this December. The space, on the vibrant Lonsdale Road, is the brainchild of Daniel Land, the original co-founder of Coco di Mama.

Named after a phrase whispered between mischievous siblings, the restaurant is a tribute to Daniel’s late sister, Lesley, with nods to her joyous character within signage and menu design. Daniel will be joined by a notable team, including Head Chef Luke Frankie (formerly Noble Rot, Forza Wine, Spring) and Head Baker Keren Sternberg (previously Head Baker at Layla), who will work in tandem across the dual bakery and restaurant spaces to bring bold plates and pastries to the local community and further beyond.

Operating as a bakery by day, Sternberg will offer sweet and savoury pastries, breads, sandwiches and biscuits, alongside coffee from local London roasters, 15Grams. On the menu, expect baked goods that play on nostalgic flavour combinations and twists on the classics, including Hazelnut brown butter croissant; and Honey-poached quince, crème fraîche and pistachio Danish; while savouries will come in the form of Artichoke, sage and Lancashire cheese Pain Suisse.

As the day moves on, the restaurant will take shape, leaning on French and British influences, with the restaurant’s playful and indulgent spirit threaded throughout snacks, starters and mains. Think Crab tart with crab oil mayonnaise and watercress; Roast pumpkin with brown butter, hazelnut and crispy sage; and Spiced mallard with celeriac and Swiss chard.

Of the opening, Daniel Land notes, “This is a true passion project. To showcase sensational food by a madly talented chef, drink properly priced top notch booze, and during the day, indulge in freshly baked goods by one of the best bakers in London. It’s a homage to all the great places I’ve been spoiled by over the years and my attempt to add to that canon, for all of us in Queen’s Park.”

Don’t Tell Dad is set to open its doors in Queen’s Park this December. Further details to be announced imminently.
